The Lena river 2011

The photo expedition down the Lena river was performed on assignment of the publishing house “Penta” and on request of Yakutsk State University. As usual the main objective was photo shooting of local landscapes. Andrey Shevelev, the photographer from Tyumen, also participated in this expedition. Together we covered the route of 1250 km on a catamaran without an engine. Although we were only interested in Yakutsk part of the river, we started the route from Korshunovo settlement, located in Irkutsk region, for having opportunity of photo shooting one of the remarkable places on the river – the tract “Scheki”. The route was finished in the national park “Lenskie stolby”, perhaps, the most amazing, beautiful and famous place on the river. The Lena is one of the most extended rivers not only in Russia, but also worldwide. Undoubtedly, this river may be recognized as one of the geographic objects, associated with Russia and its wide and authentic territories.
